Meet Alison Driver: Managing Director & Chartered FCIPD

Alison Driver is the Managing Director of Metis HR Ltd. She is a Lancashire-based, Chartered FCIPD and MBA-qualified HR Consultant with over 40 years’ experience. Her experience as an operational people manager and HR professional spans decades.

With over 40 years of experience managing people, I help clients deal with complex people issues with confidence and clarity.  I’ve spent my career supporting businesses like yours through the toughest people challenges. As a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD with an MBA I combine the best of both worlds, strategic insight with hands on experience, to help employers tackle their HR issues with confidence and clarity.

From the very start of my career, I’ve faced complex HR challenges head on. At just 24 I was managing 105 unionised staff, and by 25, I led a difficult redundancy process created by the Compulsory Competitive Tendering exercise that successfully retained an in-house contract – without any costs or claims.

Since those days in the mid 1980’s Alison estimates that she has:

55

Directly managed approximately 55 different management level staff

415

Been ultimately responsible for the work delivered by approximately 415 employees

2000

Conducted over 2000 recruitment interviews

70

In a line management capacity dismissed 12 employees but in an HR capacity supported management colleagues with in excess of 70 dismissals

85

Undertaken between 80 and 90 employee-related investigations (the majority disciplinary and grievance investigations)

4

Been Company Secretary for 4 companies

15

Run her own business as an HR Consultant for almost 15 years developing a client base of over 425 clients

Inspired by Metis, the Greek Goddess of wisdom and good counsel, I founded Metis HR in 2011. It’s important to me that every single client feels listened to, supported, and empowered with a clear plan of action. Very early on I learned from clients like you that some of the things that they need to talk to an HR Consultant about are the things that they find difficult to speak about. They’re sensitive matters, sometimes embarrassing. The last thing you need to feel is that you’re being judged.

I regularly draw on my 40 years’ experience to provide tailored and practical advice that puts your best interests first. By focusing on what you want to achieve, I work backwards to create tailored, solution-focused strategies to help you resolve your problems.

Clients regularly tell me that they feel a sense of relief and renewed control after our conversations. I create a non-judgemental space where you can share your concerns openly, no matter how complex or sensitive the situation.

I can’t give you many guarantees (employment law doesn’t work like that!) but I can guarantee you that I will always promise you that I will

  • Listen carefully to understand your needs
  • Offer practical, actionable solutions tailored to your situation
  • Help you feel cared for and confident in your next steps

My clients value the trust and expertise I bring to their most challenging situations. When we work together, you can expect clear advice, a plan that works for you, and unwavering support every step of the way. Together, we turn challenges into manageable solutions, leaving you better equipped to succeed.
